Stainless steel import in Japan drop in August
|
Japan imported some 16,715 tons of stainless steel product in August, a 28.9 percent drop compared to last month, and a 14.9 percent up year-on-year.
The value of the stainless steel imports in August were around US$86 million, and the average import price was US$5,141/ton, a little bit increase from last month.
Stainless steel import volume remained high since December 2006, but both import and export volume began to decrease after August. Among the import country, import from South Korea was 12,216 tons, a 12 percent decrease compared to last month, Taiwan occupied 1,026 tons, a 67.9 percent up compared to last month, and China occupied 770 tons, a 16.2 percent drop compared to last month.
