Posco, Nissan plan to build steel plant in Japan
|
Japanese automaker Nissan Motor Co. and South Korean steelmaker Posco plan to build up a steel mill joint-venture near Tokyo in May 2008.
This new facility will produce automotive, stainless sheet and other general steel products with annual capacity of 120,000 tons.
Under this project, Nissan can secure stable supply of steel products sources and also have more power to negotiate with Japanese steelmakers for other products.
Nissan and Posco initially have a Yokohama based joint-venture last September, which Posco holds 70 percents of share, while 30 percents owned by Nissan subsidiary, Nissan Trading Co.
