Chinese-origin steel price to raise in Europe on supply tightness
|
The prices of flat products from China to southern EU are going to be increased from September due to supply decrease from China.
The Chinese government wants steelmakers to limit export because of dumping issue. Actually, the shortage of slab and increased domestic demand has pushed the prices up by €20/ ton in Southeast Asia at the beginning of August.
Eurofer has asked EU Trade Commissioner to launch an anti-dumping probe against Chinese steel imports. Therefore, a reduction in export to Europe suggests a short supply then.
