Alataw Shankou scrap imports continue to slide

Metal scrap imported to China’s Alataw Shankou has dropped 67.6 percent to 43, 000 tons. The main reason behind the increase in imports is that cost has increased by around RMB300/ton after the cancellation of a special policy. Also the international price has been on the rise. China has imposed restrictions on the import of scrap. And companies have reduced their purchasing of scrap. (Mar. 21)
