Billet and long products prices in Latin America increase dramatically

Growing international demand for billets, rebar and wire rod has caused a sharp rise in the price of these products from Latin America. According to some traders the price for billets, rebar and wire rod rose by at least $40 per ton recently. The winter in Eastern Europe has also played a role in the rising price as it is difficult to ship goods. The billet price in Latin America is $370 to 380 per ton FOB while the rebar price is around $420 to 430 per ton and the wire rod price is at $430 to 450 per ton. (Mar. 14)
