Rising coal exports expected cause price drop
Rising coal exports is expected to result in the coal price to drop to below $45 per metric ton. Australia, Indonesia and South Africa have all upped their exports of coal. The world’s biggest coal exporter, Indonesia, is expected to raise their export level by 8 percent this year while exports from Australia are expected to rise by 3 percent. With the increased exports, Industrial economists expect the coal prices in the Asia-Pacific market to drop to US$42 per ton. (Jan. 9)
