Buyers keep steel inventory levels lower than before
According to research by the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) most steel buyers have been using lower steel inventories recently. The ISM also expects that this buying trend will continue for the coming 3 to 6 months. About 35 percent of companies that took part in the survey by ISM have less than a months worth of stock. Around 22 percent of respondents have between 2 and 3 months worth of stock. Stock levels are also much lower than before with 39 percent of steel buyers saying that their stock levels are 10 percent or more lower than previous levels. (Dec. 9)
