Falconbridge looking to increase annual output
|
Falconbridge is considering increasing the production capacity at Falcondo, located in the Dominican Republic. They are looking to up the output by 20 percent or 6,000 tons per year. They will spend an estimated US$90 million in the project. The company has for the first time sold nickel to China traders in September. The quantity was about 1,000 tons. Currently Falcondo has an annual output of 29,000 tons and they sell 50 percent of this to American mills, 12.5 percent to European mill and the remaining stocks go to Japanese and South Korean buyers.
